Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some common questions and answers that may arise about the new process here in the BLS International office for PH passport renewal:

What is a Philippine ePassport Renewal Center? How is it different from the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur?

The Philippine ePassport Renewal Center or “PaRC” is a stand-alone facility established by the Department of Foreign Affairs with BLS International, an industry leader in outsourcing and digital technology for government services. It is authorized to accept passport applications from Filipinos holding regular passports and whose applications do not entail a charge in the passport record of the holder While the PaRC is a stand-alone facility, its operations are supervised by the Embassy. This means that the Embassy monitors passports applications lodged with the PaRC and the passports produced to go through the Embassy.

What was the reason for the establishment of the Philippine ePassport renewal center? Does this mean the Embassy no longer accepts renewal of ePassports?

The Philippine Embassy in Malaysia still accepts passport renewals. This new process was established to help the processing of Philippine passports for more convenience. To give Filipinos another option especially for renewals beyond regular business hours.

Would my personal information be safe if I renew my ePassport in the PaRC?

The Department ensured that the employees of BLS Intl. working in the PaRC and involve in passport renewals are properly vetted, subjected to thorough background checks, and are bound by the Philippine data privacy and confidentiality rules. Moreover, all personal information are processed using DFA proprietary ePassport System only in order to ensure data privacy and security.

What are the fees if I renew the passport at PaRC?

The passport fee of 288 RM will be collected during the application process. At the same time a convenience fee of 113 QR will be charged by BLS Intl. for the use of the PaRC.

Why is the PaRC charging a convenience fee?

While the PaRC acts as an extension of the Embassy when it comes to passport renewals, the cost of establishing, operating, and maintaining the PaRC are shouldered by BLS International. Thus, BLS International charges a convenience fee to recoup its expenses and investment in the PaRC.

What are the operating hours of the PaRC Malaysia

The PaRC would be open twelve (12) hours a day from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, six (6) days a week from Tuesdays to Sundays.

Will I be able to receive my new passport at my preferred address?

This may be possible but BLS Intl. may charge an additional fee for this service

Summary

So this is the process of passport renewal at the new PaRC center managed by BLS International. We hope this will give another option for Pinoys who wish to renew their passports at their convenient time.
