Get TESDA Certified To Work In Malaysia As A Domestic Worker: Here’s How
Before hiring a domestic worker, employers consider their history to ensure that they can meet the expectations of their family.
Many foreign domestic workers have varying training backgrounds. This can make it hard for employers to determine the type of training they should offer their workers.
Domestic Worker Training in the Philippines
Filipinos who want to work as domestic helpers need to first obtain the necessary training, which is through a course offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The course’s fee is PHP 1,000. After passing, you will need to pay another PHP 100 to secure the necessary certification for overseas employment.
Without this course, the helpers’ contracts could not be renegotiated, and they could be subject to other conditions.
Note: As of this writing, TESDA is currently reviewing its recently conducted online training launched in March 2021, which ran for six months. Whether the program will be fully implemented online in the near future will depend on the success of the pilot batch that was also deployed for overseas work in the same year.
The online training program for domestic helpers was created to prevent the exploitation of these workers.
The course can be used by training centers that specialize in handling domestic work.
The Domestic Work NC II course, which has a duration of over 200 hours, is being implemented in various training centers across the country.
Domestic Work NC II Course Overview
What to expect in this course: This course will help you improve your skills in various tasks such as preparing food and cleaning houses, and many other competencies, which include the following:
- Doing the laundry and ironing clothes, linen and drapery
- Handling food and beverage
- Maintaining an effective relationship with clients and customers
- Maintaining the house, dining room, bedrooms, toilet and kitchen clean.
- Making hot and cold meals/food
- Managing one’s performance and responsibilities
Course Duration: It takes a minimum of 216 hours to finish the Household Services NC Il.
Eligibility
Students and trainees who want to take this course should be able to read and write. Anyone who can meet this requirement is eligible to enroll in the program.
